Geoff

My son was born on the day of the England Rugby World Cup in 2003. My wife had been admitted to hospital two days earlier when her waters broke but there had been no signs of his arrival. I was just sitting down to watch the match when my wife rang and it was kick off time in more ways than one!

Everything was going well but then the baby began to show signs of distress so my wife was given an emergency birth. However the baby was not breathing properly and was rushed to intensive care. He was stabilised and brought back to the ward and I went home eventually. But the next morning my wife rang very distraught and told me he had been rushed back into intensive care. I set off for the hospital but had to pass my church on the way and I really felt God tell me that I needed to pray and get others praying so I stopped off there briefly and immediately everyone began to pray for my son. They also contacted other Christians who also began to pray.

Over the next fortnight my son was very poorly but we kept on trusting God. People from church came and prayed over him and gradually he began to improve and it was a memorable day when we were able to bring him home and see him strong and well.

There is power in prayer and a church that supports you in good and bad times.

God answers prayer if you have the faith to believe He will.
